Toltu: Making Language Happen

The Oromo people are the largest single indigenous population across the Horn of Africa. Numbering over 40 million people, their language “Afaan Oromo” is the most widely spoken language in the continent, after Arabic and Hausa. Growing up in Australia, I’ve always been interested in ways to bring language and culture to life, especially with children. Creating high quality, children friendly literature is almost non existent in the Oromo language and that is something I want to change. It is not really the dream of one, but the dream of 40 million people.
