This week-30 March 2015- PART TWO- Aliye Geleto,the host of OVR English Program, Oromia Insight, talks to Dr. Hamdesa Tuso from Department of Peace and Conflict Studies,University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada, He was born and raised in Oromia in the Ethiopian Empire. While attending High School, during the latter years of the feudal regime of Emperor Haile Sellassie, he participated in a youth movement for social change and justice for the landless peasants in the Rift Valley of southern Oromia.These life lessons in indigenous forms of human rights advocacy and peacemaking remain at the core of his work.His journey has led him to pursue higher education Australia and North America.He attended Avondale College, NSW, Australia, receiving a B.A.He subsequently pursued his graduate education at Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan where he received his M. A. and Michigan State University where he obtained his Ph.D. Dr. Tuso practices his concentration on conflict resolution within and beyond the academy.As a Faculty Member of the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies,University of Manitoba, he teaches and supervises graduate students.

This week-16 March 2015- PART TWO- Aliye Geleto,the host of OVR English Program, Oromia Insight, talks to Yasmin Hassan, the former youth commissioner at the Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC).Yasmin Hassen is a third culture adult born to Oromo parents.
As someone who was born a cynic and raised a skeptic, Yasmin is driven by a need to engage in critical thought and discourses. Throughout her work history she has engaged in numerous settings that have allowed her to interact with different communities on a variety of platforms to get an informed and comprehensive picture of national and international communities, experiences and issues.
Interested in the experiences of visible minorities in diasporic settings, Yasmin’s academic career began with a Master’s by Research degree in political science and international studies from Monash University where she first became simultaneously interested in and increasingly disillusioned by the narratives about visible minorities in academia. She has worked mainly on the experiences of young Muslims in the West, however you chose to define it, in a post-September 11 security climate.
